Toronto - Studio V and Casa Victoria Wedding - Catherine and Anakin
Catherine and Anakin’s wedding took place on December 19th, just before the holiday season. The 2 ceremonies and portrait session took place at Studio V Events and the reception followed at Casa Victoria in Markham.
I was looking forward to being back at Studio V, an event location that I love. It’s a smaller, intimate space but it’s filled with character. You’ll see from the establishing images in this blog that it has a mix of industrial, modern, and bohemian style. The natural light at this location is great, and it fills the room with warmth.
I’m happy to share with you some wedding photos from Studio V Events and Casa Victoria.
Catherine and Anakin started their wedding day with a signing of the official wedding documents, officiated by Francesca Bonta - Celestial Ceremonies.
This was followed by a western style wedding and then a traditional Chinese tea ceremony. I loved the mix of two cultures on a wedding day, it brings that extra special element to a celebration. The light shone in through the large windows in the ceremony space as Catherine walked down the aisle with her parents on either side. As she walked closer to the end of the aisle, Anakin couldn’t help but tear up as he saw his beautiful fiancé smile, and the two would soon be husband and wife.
Parents, siblings, cousins, grandparents and friends looked on as Catherine and Anakin exchanged heartfelt vows. After some prayers and a ring exchange, they sealed their marriage with a kiss and they had become one.
The ceremony was followed by formal photos. Beautiful, timeless, and fun is what I go for when taking group photos. You can probably tell that Catherine and Anakin like to have fun, especially with their bridal party.
Next up was the traditional Chinese tea ceremony, where Catherine wore an elegant traditional red dress. Tea and gifts (red pocket) were offered between family members on both sides. It was beautiful, as you will be able to see from the expressions below.
To bring the ceremony part of the celebration to a close, everyone raised a glass and toasted to the newly weds. After everyone had departed, it was time for portraits with the bride and groom! During these portrait sessions, I like to keep it light, encouraging the couple to dance, to laugh, and just embrace the moment.
The reception took place at Casa Victoria, a fine dining banquet hall in Markham. At every location I go to, it’s important to start with some establishing images of the venue, so you can tell a complete story. I like to include a wide shot of the venue, the table setups, cutlery, glassware, design elements, and any wedding favours. The wedding cake is also a great photo to take. My perspective is that the couple selected a venue, or decor, or a cake design for a reason. They put time and effort into selecting all these different elements to have on their wedding day, so I must capture it well.
After the guests got settled in their seats, a few announcements were made and it was time for the bridal party to enter.
This was followed by the grand entrance, the bride and groom, Catherine and Anakin!
The night was filled with laughter, great food, fun moments and love.
